Nov. 6th /89 My Dear Uncle and Family, As I am very desirous of hearing from you after so long a time, I take the present opportunity of conversing with you through the cold medium of pen and ink. Oh how I wish I could see you if only for an hour. I have so much to say to you and then Dear Uncle I can never tell you how much I love you with pen. I have so many times thought of the time you took me in the room and kissed me and told me if I ever needed a friend to call on you, and I have many times needed such a friend, |
and the only thing that restrained me from calling on you was knowing you had a family of your own to care for and so thought you had enough on your shoulders. But I thank God I found one true friend that I could trust with my heart, and we are so happy in our little home. My Husband is a good scholar and gets ninety dollars a month keeping books for a grocery store. He is a nephew of Ex Gov. Marmaduke of Missouri.
I wrote to Grandpa some time ago for your address and intended to have written sooner, but have been very negligent. I am having better health this fall, and have for some time. I am getting ??? ???. I do hope you are all in good health. I wonder if you have all changed as much as I Have. I can see Norma(?) now holding the looking glass up for me to see of I wasn't pretty |
when I had the measles.
Oh how happy Frankie must be with her dear little babies. The only anxiety I have is the fear that we may never have any dear little babies to bless our home. But God knows best and in his own good time we may have them. I have often thought how kind and good Aunt Lizzie was to Momma and I while we were there. Momma is well and seems to be happy. I received a letter from Lucina Greenwood in Cal and I expected to hear from Ida and Laura, but I suppose they are waiting for me to write first. How I wish you could come out next spring and make us a visit. We have the loveliest |
weather here all the year around. yet? I have much more I want to say, but will postpone the rest until you are kind enough to reply to this, and I trust that will be soon for I am very anxious to hear from you. My Husband joins me in love to all. I am as always(?) your loving niece. Mrs. Emma Marmaduke 309 Victoria Ave. |
