St. Mihiel - Cemetery & BatTlefield
On September 22nd, 2018, Don and Russ Mason attended the 100th anniversary commemoration of the battle of St. Mihiel, where David and James Mason (and Hubert 'Pothound' Dawson) fought as members of the US 4th Division in 1918. This event was held at the St. Mihiel American Cemetery near the battlefield.
Sergeant John J. Gilmore, who was killed near the Mason brothers and Dawson, is buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery. Dawson recalls how Gilmore died in one of his letters to James Mason.
Prior to the anniversary event at the American Cemetery, Russ and Don explored the area of the battle.

Also exploring that day was Robert Ruddock and his family, who explained that his father, like ours, was at St. Mihiel.
