virginia lilly mason - recollections
James Mason, talking (in 1977) about what his wife was doing at that time: "Mrs. Virginia Mason, my wife, is working in the DuPage Nutrition Program at Westmont Community Center. It is for senior citizens who gather for a dinner and social hour at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Bingo, pinochle, serious talks by local celebrities, sing-a-long singing, banjo playing are some of the features."
James Mason, recalling (in 1984) how he met Virginia in the late '20s: "There was a gal working as room clerk, name of Virginia Lilly, and a senior citizen from our Third Presbyterian Church was a patient, and the nurses announced a dance at the Blackstone Hotel, and I got one of the four tickets that she bought, and Virginia got one. And an intern over at Cook County took her, and her companion on that room clerk job went with me. So I met her down there at the Blackstone Hotel, and then I followed up on…succeeded. But she was always a beautiful and lovely lady."
