BIOGRAPHY
by Ida Frances (Muffet) Marshall (Heidi's mother):
"My own family began in 1956 when I married Kenneth W. Marshall in Denver, Colorado. On April 25, 1959, our second daughter, Heidi Gay, arrived.
"Heidi graduated from Central High School in Aurora, Colorado in 1977. Shortly thereafter, she married John Earls and they welcomed a daughter, Melissa Aspen, in 1978. They lived in Colorado, California, and Oklahoma for several years before permanently locating in Barstow, California. Their son, Dylan was born in 1984.
"Heidi worked in day care centers and restaurants for those years, but in 1985, she went to work for the Welfare Department of San Bernardino County. During her time there, she earned a degree in Public Administration from LaVerne University. She was divorced from John Earls in 1988. Not long after earning her bachelor’s degree, she began working on a law degree on line from Concord Law School of Kaplan University, which she earned in 2008 after 4 years of a grueling schedule working 4 days a week in her county job and 3 days of solid study. She practiced law as a public defender for San Bernardino County until she retired in 2013 after 28 years with the county.
"Heidi married Jon Mahlum in 2006. Jon is also an attorney and is a musician. Heidi is a talented musician also, having played the violin since 4th grade. Heidi, Jon, and Heidi’s granddaughter, Kaylee, relocated to Sale Creek, Tennessee in July, 2013. They are enjoying the greenery and damp climate after spending so many years in the high desert of California.
"Heidi’s daughter, Melissa, has two children: Jesse Mason Kalajian and Madelyn Kalajian. In 2013, their ages were 18 and 15. They live in Apple Valley, California. Melissa is employed by the San Bernardino County Child Protective Services."
