recollections about bob mason
"One time Bob Mason told me that when he was working, he was in Washington DC and there was some kind of social situation in which it came up that he was in the Marines during WWII. Someone that he was talking to, hoping to hear that he was some kind of important officer or something asked him what he did during the war. In Bob's typically understated, and at the same time shocking way, said 'Well, I killed people!'" - Steve Roberts, March 2013
"Uncle Bob was always a rebel and that is why I liked him so much. He once told me that the reason he was scouring the spare bedroom he used when staying at his sister Florence's house was to erase all traces that had ever been on earth. When he told about breaking into the Walden high school at night when he was a kid, and his sister Muffet said, "I never knew about that," he replied, "That's because I was good at it!" When I was driving through a city once where he was on a business trip and stopped at his hotel room to visit a while, it was surprising that his small briefcase doubled as his suitcase and held all he needed for a couple of days: a change of socks and underwear. I will miss him." - Steve Roberts, November, 2015
"Saying good bye today to my father in law. A few weeks ago I asked him 'what would you rather be doing if you weren't here in the hospital?' He replied, 'raising HELL.' Rest in Peace Robert William Mason 1926-2015" - Linda Mason, November, 2015
"Even though my Uncle lived far away from us out here in Colorado he was much loved all the same. I will miss sending him a Colorado calendar every Christmas and cards from his 'favorite niece' just don't tell my sisters. He was a good and kind man with his very own sense of humor. It was great to see him laugh with all the orneriness there was in this world. May peace be with you all in your time of grieving. Rest in Peace, Uncle!" - Marty Flessner, November, 2015
"My Uncle Bob was an amazing person. He loved to have fun. He was an incredibly intelligent and accomplished person. My thoughts and prayers go out to my Aunt Pearl Mason, cousins Bill Mason and his wife Linda and son Curtis, Kevin Mason." - Love from Robin Marshall, November, 2015
